Genealogy 101 Workshop & Library Lock In September 12, 2020 | 5pm -Midnight

Calling all beginning family researchers! We’ll spend about an hour and a half learning the basics then junp into the library resources to begin building your tree with the help of FCHS staff. Stay for a little or last until midnight! $10 for Members, $15 for Non-Members. Pre-registration and wearing of masks Required. Maximum of 4 participants.

Annual Meeting Speaker: WWII POW Camps in Minnesota
October 24, 2020 | 10am -11:30am

Author Colleen Gengler will present on what camp life was like in three Prisoner of War camps in southern Minnesota including Fairmont, New Ulm, and Owatonna during the Second World War. Gengler’s interest in the topic comes from her parents’ use of POW labor on their farm south of Owatonna during the war years. The FCHS Annual Meeting will follow, the general public is welcome to attend! RSVP and masks required. Seating will be limited to 25 people. Free-will donation suggested.

Hoist the highball or pass the pint in support of local history and local brew! FCHS Staff and area historians will share some of the hidden histories of Fillmore County from the taprooms of its newest liquor lounges. Includes snacks and program. Freewill Donations appreciated.
