VOLUNTEER

Your effort makes a difference. With grounds and facilities to maintain and a large collection to catalog and preserve, volunteer opportunities are abundant. Work behind the scenes or out front with guests. Every effort is made to match your interests and abilities with the needs of the FCHS and training is provided. 

Areas of Assistance

Front Desk Attendant

Welcome and check-in visitors to the history center. Answer phones and assist with visitor questions. Must like people and smiling! 

Museum Docent

Lead visiting groups including school children  on tours through the museum. Must agree with the statement No question is a dumb question."

Cataloging Assistant

Enter object information into new online collections database. Must possess swift fingers and a sense of humor. 

Library Host

Assist visiting researchers by introducing them to library resources and ensuring library policies are being followed. Must love a good mystery!

Housekeeping Helper

Duties can range from lightbulb changing to plant watering to dust bunny destroying. Must not be scared of spiders. 

Historical Research Assistant

Utilize FCHS resources to research topics of interest to our community. Must like the smell of old books.
